| NEWS: Dr. Sougata Roy named Local Organizing Chair for Second International Conference on Fatigue and Fracture of the Infrastructure | ||
 Dr. Sougata Roy, ATLSS Senior Research Scientist, has been named the Local Organizing Committee Chair for the Second International Conference on Fatigue and Fracture in the Infrastructure. The conference, hosted by the ATLSS Research Center, is scheduled for July 26 - 29, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA, and aims to bring together the experts in the field of fatigue and fracture of the civil infrastructure in order to discuss recent experiences, effective retrofit strategies, new material applications, monitoring, evaluation and maintenance approaches, and educational needs. Dr. Roy has 20 years experience in bridge infrastructure engineering with specialization in fatigue fracture of steel bridges including analytical assessment, large scale experimentation and interpretation of results, field investigation, health monitoring and evaluation of aging infrastructure. Dr. Roy has earned his Ph.D. from Lehigh University under the advisement of Professor Emeritus John W.
